The
pioneers of chocolate in TURIN
The
earliest traces of the Peyrano
family in Turin date back to the beginning of the 19th
century, when their activity
was professional fishing, as well as the running of landing-stages
and the hiring of pleasure-boats
on the river Po.
In 1911 the
Peyrano family was made up
as follows: Giacomo Peyrano
(owner of a landing-stage as well as prize-winner for
regattas and rescues on the river Po), his wife Agnese
Maronetto, their children Antonio, Luigi, Lucia and Giovanna.
In 1915 Antonio founded the Peyrano chocolate-making firm.
His sisters Lucia and Giovanna
joined him in its management
from the very onset, followed
a few years later by Giovanna’s
son, Giacomo jr., better known as “Giacolin”.
